World Diabetes Day 2024: Pulse Hospital, Amritsar, Conducts Diabetes Awareness Campaign
Amritsar, November 14, 2024 – On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, Pulse Hospital in Amritsar organized a special event to raise awareness about diabetes. The program featured extensive discussions on the rising prevalence of diabetes, its causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatment. Experts from the hospital educated patients and the general public about the disease.

Dr. Rishabh Arora, the lead physician at Pulse Hospital, highlighted that diabetes is a rapidly spreading condition that no longer affects only adults but also impacts children and young individuals. He explained that diabetes occurs when the body fails to produce sufficient insulin or cannot use it effectively, leading to abnormally high blood sugar levels. This condition negatively affects the heart, kidneys, eyes, and nervous system.
Dr. Arora emphasized that urban lifestyles, unhealthy eating habits, lack of physical activity, and stress are major contributors to the increasing cases of diabetes. He also pointed out the significant role of genetic predisposition in the disease. Expressing concern, he noted that diabetes-related complications such as heart attacks, kidney failure, and strokes are contributing to higher mortality rates.
Dr. Arora urged people to recognize the early signs of diabetes, which include excessive thirst, frequent urination, sudden weight loss, increased hunger, fatigue, and slow-healing wounds. Ignoring these symptoms can lead to severe health complications.
Pulse Hospital stressed the importance of preventive measures against diabetes. These include regular exercise, a balanced diet, stress management, and periodic blood sugar tests. Dr. Arora further stated that while diabetes cannot be cured, it can be managed effectively through medications, insulin, a healthy diet, and lifestyle modifications.
As part of the event, the hospital organized a free diabetes screening camp, offering patients blood sugar tests and consultations with doctors. The hospital management pledged to continue such awareness campaigns and urged everyone to prioritize their health.
