A Noble Initiative Against Cervical Cancer by EMC Cradle and Inner Wheel Club – Lighting the Lamp of Awareness and Unity
In a significant stride toward women’s health, EMC Cradle, Amritsar, in collaboration with the Inner Wheel Club, has launched a dedicated awareness and vaccination campaign against cervical cancer. This joint initiative aims to empower women with essential health knowledge and raise awareness about the serious risks posed by cervical cancer.
As part of this initiative, a special cervical cancer vaccination camp was organized at S.L. Bhavan, Islamabad, where a large number of students, young girls, and women participated. By choosing to vaccinate themselves, the participants not only took a step towards safeguarding their health but also set a powerful example of civic responsibility and awareness.
The keynote speaker at the event was Dr. Monika Maheshwari, Senior Gynecologist and Obstetrics Consultant at EMC Cradle. In an accessible and impactful manner, she explained the importance of early prevention. Dr. Monika emphasized:
“Cervical cancer is primarily caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), which can be prevented through timely vaccination. Administering the vaccine during adolescence is highly beneficial. Awareness is the strongest shield against this disease.”
She also engaged in an interactive session, patiently answering questions from students and dispelling myths and fears related to cervical cancer. Dr. Monika highlighted the alarming fact that thousands of women in India fall victim to this preventable disease every year, primarily due to a lack of awareness and timely vaccination.
Mrs. Samiksha Arora, Director of EMC Hospital, also addressed the gathering and remarked:
“EMC Cradle is not just a healthcare center—it is a socially responsible institution. We believe that healthcare must go beyond treatment and encompass awareness, prevention, and education. Our collaboration with the Inner Wheel Club reflects this commitment. We want every woman to be self-reliant, informed, and unafraid to care for her health.”
She also announced that EMC Hospital will continue to conduct such collaborative health initiatives in the future to benefit women in both rural and urban areas equally.
The camp provided vaccination and consultation services by a team of healthcare professionals. Informative booklets and health kits were also distributed to all participants.
This initiative by EMC Cradle and the Inner Wheel Club stands as a shining example of women empowerment, health awareness, and social responsibility. Such proactive efforts not only help eradicate diseases from their roots but also play a pivotal role in steering society towards a healthier and more informed future.
