🗓️ Monday, May 26, 2025 | 📰 Special Report – Gurdaspur

In a landmark step toward strengthening rural healthcare, City Hospital (A Unit of EMC Hospitals, Gurdaspur) organized a large-scale free medical camp on Sunday, May 25, 2025, in Village Churchak, Tehsil Dera Baba Nanak, District Gurdaspur. This initiative is part of EMC Hospitals’ ongoing rural health outreach program, echoing the organization’s mission: “Where there’s a need, there’s our service.”
While urban areas have access to modern healthcare facilities, rural regions continue to struggle with limited medical infrastructure. EMC Hospitals aims to bridge this gap by delivering quality healthcare to remote and underserved areas. Village Churchak was chosen for this significant initiative — marking the first time such an extensive and well-coordinated health camp was conducted at this scale in the area.
The camp, completely free of cost, was based on the pillars of service, compassion, and collaboration. A specialized team of experienced doctors conducted health screenings, offered medical consultations, and distributed essential medicines without any charges. The overwhelming turnout — with villagers lining up in large numbers — clearly demonstrated the pressing need for such services in rural communities.
The camp offered a wide range of medical services. These included general health check-ups, blood pressure and blood sugar testing, ECG diagnostics, and specialized consultations with gynecologists, pediatricians, orthopedic doctors, and dermatologists. Additionally, there were free medicines distributed, referrals provided for critical cases to City Hospital, and primary mental health support made available. Interactive health awareness sessions were also conducted, educating villagers on nutrition, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyles.
Over 300 villagers benefited from this initiative. Among the beneficiaries were numerous elderly individuals who had not consulted a doctor in years, as well as women and children who received focused attention for their health concerns. The success of the event was a testament to the community’s trust and the hospital’s commitment.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rishabh Arora, Director of EMC Hospitals, delivered an inspiring message: “Health is not a luxury — it is a basic right. At EMC Hospitals, we strive to ensure that no one is deprived of treatment due to distance or financial hardship. This health camp is not a one-time event, but part of a long-term commitment to bring compassionate, high-quality, and accessible healthcare to every village.”
Dr. Arora extended special thanks to the medical team, local Panchayat committee, village residents, and volunteers for their support. He confirmed that this was just the beginning, and similar camps would soon be held in other villages across the Gurdaspur district, reinforcing EMC Hospitals’ commitment to rural health.
