Breath Uninterrupted – Life Unstoppable: EMC Hospital’s Initiative on World Asthma Day

Every year, the first Tuesday of May is observed as World Asthma Day, aimed at raising awareness about asthma — a chronic respiratory disease — and emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. In line with this, EMC Hospital, Amritsar organized a special health awareness program, which saw enthusiastic participation from patients, their families, and local residents.
During the event, senior physician Dr. Ajaypal Singh addressed the audience and shared important insights about asthma. He explained that asthma is a serious but manageable condition caused by inflammation of the airways. Common symptoms include shortness of breath, coughing, chest tightness, and wheezing. Dr. Singh highlighted that factors like air pollution, dust, allergies, smoke, and weather changes can exacerbate asthma. He emphasized, “If patients use inhalers correctly and regularly, avoid known triggers, and follow the prescribed treatment, they can lead completely normal lives.”
On this occasion, Dr. Rishabh Arora, Director of EMC Hospital, showcased the hospital’s advanced respiratory care facilities. He mentioned that EMC Hospital offers state-of-the-art Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), experienced pulmonologists, ICU support, and 24×7 emergency services. Dr. Arora also announced that the hospital will soon organize free asthma screening camps across the city and nearby rural areas to help more people get timely diagnosis and treatment.
The hospital administration underlined that the goal of this awareness campaign is not just to provide treatment but also to educate people that asthma is not something to fear but to fight with awareness and timely care. Participants at the event received free consultations, lung checkups, and practical guidance on proper inhaler usage.
The program concluded with this powerful message:
“Let your breath never pause – Let your life never stop. Don’t fear asthma; become aware and seek timely treatment.”
