Don’t Fear Asthma, Be Aware: Awareness Program Held at Abrol Hospital (A Unit of EMC), Gurdaspur on World Asthma Day
Gurdaspur, May 5 – On the occasion of World Asthma Day, Abrol Hospital, Gurdaspur (a unit of EMC Hospitals), organized an awareness program aimed at educating people about asthma and encouraging timely treatment. The event saw enthusiastic participation from specialist doctors, nursing staff, and local residents.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Ajaypal Singh (Senior Physician), explained that asthma is a common yet serious disease affecting children, young adults, and the elderly. He said, “Shortness of breath, coughing, chest tightness, and wheezing are the main symptoms of asthma. However, with timely treatment and lifestyle improvements, asthma can be effectively controlled.”
Dr. Singh emphasized the correct use of inhalers, avoiding exposure to dust and smoke, undergoing regular check-ups, and strictly following medical advice. He highlighted the need to dispel the myths surrounding asthma, pointing out that effective medicines and treatments are readily available today.
During the program, Dr. Rishabh Arora, Director of Abrol Hospital, stated, “Our mission is not just to treat illnesses but to create timely awareness among people. At Abrol Hospital, we have modern facilities for the diagnosis and treatment of asthma and other respiratory diseases.”
