EMC Hospital, Amritsar Raises Awareness on World Alzheimer’s Day
Amritsar, September 21, 2024: On the occasion of World Alzheimer’s Day, EMC Super Specialty Hospital, Amritsar, organized a special awareness program under the guidance of Dr. Rishabh Arora, Director of EMC Group of Hospitals. The event aimed to highlight the impact of Alzheimer’s disease, the importance of early diagnosis, and the need for effective care. This global observance is dedicated to increasing awareness about Alzheimer’s and reducing the stigma associated with dementia.

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder that gradually impairs brain function. It becomes more common with age, affecting memory, thinking ability, and the capacity to perform everyday tasks. Key symptoms include memory loss, confusion, disorientation, difficulty with language, poor decision-making, and changes in behavior.
Dr. Arzimand, Consultant Neurologist, emphasized, “With the aging population, cases of Alzheimer’s and other dementias are on the rise. Early diagnosis can significantly improve the quality of life for patients and provide valuable support to their families.” He also stressed the importance of regular health check-ups for the elderly to detect early signs of cognitive decline.
While there is no definitive cure for Alzheimer’s, early intervention can help manage symptoms and slow disease progression. The role of caregivers, along with emotional support, is crucial. Timely medical consultations and treatments are essential to address the disease effectively.
EMC Hospital provides specialized care and treatment for Alzheimer’s patients. With experienced doctors and trained staff, the hospital strives to enhance the quality of life for patients through dedicated support. EMC also offers medical services under schemes like ECHS, CGHS, Railways, and ESI, ensuring high-quality healthcare for all sections of society.
The program concluded with an interactive session, where families and caregivers shared their experiences and received expert guidance from the hospital’s neurology team.
