On the occasion of World Osteoporosis Day, an awareness program was organized at EMC Super Specialty Hospital, Amritsar. The program was led by Dr. Ajay Abrol, Head of the Orthopedics Department, with contributions from Dr. Kulpreet, Dr. Prabhjot, Dr. Shalinderjeet, and Dr. Imran. The event aimed to raise awareness about the early detection, prevention, and treatment of osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis is often referred to as a “silent disease” because it develops without symptoms and is usually identified only after a fracture occurs.
The doctors stressed the importance of bone density testing (DEXA scan), particularly for high-risk groups. They also recommended a diet rich in calcium and vitamin D, along with weight-bearing exercises to strengthen bones.
